Paul, I think magnification was not over 1:4. I tried a lower distace but then the DOF got too shallow. Note that all images are cropped. -Gerald

Gerald how much magnification would you guess you had on this image? 1:2.... 1:4? Paul

Thanks for the explanation Gerald. Regards, Michael

I didn't use one but I was told the best way to get perfect drops and perfect controlled rate of drops is to use a IV infusion system. I had a similar DIY process but not an infusion by any means. Paul

Thanks, Mary Anne (sorry, how could I have omitted your name in my last comment on 28-JAN-2011 at 21:52, what were my little grey cells doing?), Shu and Michael.
Paul and Michael, recently I have read that the chance to catch a collision is best at about 10 drops per second. This was the first time that I tried a higher drop rate than usual (I do not have any means to measure it exactly, I estimate it was between 8 and 12) and for the first time, I was able to catch 3 collisions among 400 shots fairly well and got a few interesting by-products using this method. Perhaps this info is useful for you, too.

I have several collisions, nothing spectacular. But, it took me more than a few hundred to get those collides. I have several water drops in my gallery here but oddly none are any of the collisions. I guess that shows you how proud I am of them. Paul

I have had a few attempts at capturing one of these drop collisions and have never succeeded. Congratulations on your patience. Perfect focus and exposure too. Regards, Michael

Thank you for your kind comments, Trav, Leo, Paul, CameraShy, Cutter and CameraShy. Actually, it is not so difficult to shoot water drops, but it can take several hundred shots to catch the moment when two drops meet. No need to get green with envy, trav, in spite of the greenish color here. -Gerald
