Perfectly captured fireworks, Michael. Now I cannot wait to play a Deep Purple CD ...

Very nice Michael. It is always a challenge capturing these moving lights. You have done splendid. I enjoy how the flash from the cracker lights the negative space just enough to give detail.

Thanks Joshua. i think it must have been 27 seconds. I just had the camera in bulb mode on a tripod with a cable release and kept the shutter open until I thought I had captured enough action. 27 seconds does seem a long time, but I can't think of any reason why the camera would have recorded it incorrectly. Regards, Michael

Beautiful shot -- I especially like the look of the water. Was it really a 27-second exposure?

I wish I could easily get to Montreux to take photos Paul, but this was taken at the Caroline Springs festival. Caroline Springs is a "manufactured" suburb to the west of Melbourne where developers bought a lot of land and built a lot of houses. Some people are scornful of the idea, but the benefits are that the street layout was planned and there are bike and walking paths everywhere. There are also lots of lakes that are full of water birds and all the utilities are underground. There is also a thriving restaurant and shopping area, so I don't have a problem with it.
I don't live in Caroline Springs, but I'm involved with a camera club that operates out of one of the community centres there. This is the main lake, close to the shops and most of the restaurants and it's the venue for the annual fireworks. Regards, Michael

So would your fireworks shot by any chance be from "Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline"??? The terrain does look a little flat for that part of the world! Paul

Thanks Paul. The title is a reference to the Deep Purple song. Regards, Michael.

Love fireworks shots, your title reminds me of a song from the very early 1970's. Paul
