Fire Horror

To understand this image you must know what is going on that you can't see. Exactly 5 years ago to date, the young man in the middle, my next door neighbor, had to suffer watching his home be destroyed by fire. All 5 family members got out safe but the house and most of the belongings were a total loss.

Rarely do I ever use the same image in a challenge more than once but this image is forever burned into my soul and fits this challenge perfectly when you know the story.

A very journalistic worthy shot. All three gazes are striking. The younger boy grasping hold of his toy in that manner speaks so much. I wonder if the family would be interested in the shot or perhaps not enough time has passed?

They are a tough family and time heals all wounds. It took one full year for their home to be rebuilt. The fire was 5 days before Thanksgiving and they moved back in early December a year later. Paul

Not a pleasant experience for these children, or their parents, but I'm glad they were all unharmed. Regards, Michael

The photo truly does show the impact the fire is having on all three of the youngsters. I hope that the young boy and his family were not too traumatized by the event.
