Again, nice work Kelly. Very impressive set-up for this shot. Well seen and captured.

I can't imagine how you ........ imagine your ideas Kelly. Another knockout. Regards, Michael

I was too busy seeing how this was done I forgot to leave a comment.

Fabulous!!

You really have invested energy into this challenge (pun intended...lol) I really like the grid, makes an interesting background and produces great lighting mood.

~ Regards Bob

Very kind of you to take so much trouble to share how you created the image - and for taking the time to make those small changes to the edit. It was stunning and it became stunning-er. :-)

Thanks Sharon. No, I don't sell my images... at least any more. Long, long ago, I did tons of pen and ink, traveled the various art shows (something I grew to loathe with comments like - "oh that's nice dear - is that charcoal?") and did bunches of work on commission. That, and being a janitor at the church barely paid the rent, but as subsistence for a single person, it was perfectly fine. - Kelly

That finishes the image nicely! You really put a lot of effort into these, Kelly. Do you sell any of your photographic work? You are certainly good enough to do so! ~Sharon

Thank you Gerald and Paul for your kind remarks.

As for the little blemish that you spotted Paul, at f/22, I'm going to guess that you're seeing something on the sensor; there are actually two of them now that I look at the original CR2 one (hopefully) final time.

The grid was shaped from a 1' x 2' remnant of galvanized wire fabric purchased for CIC No. 19 – a glass sieve in Shattered Dream –http://www.pbase.com/cichallenge/image/126579481. It's not the easiest thing for producing finished organic forms, but as an armature for sculptures, I think it would be great. To implement Sharon's suggestion of filling out the image with more of the grid, I had to adapt it from the shot below. - Kelly

The setup for this shot was one of my more Rube Goldberg moments – and there have been many.

Aweseome, Kelly! Great spatiality, with the grid, it looks like an illustration that is intended to make the fourth dimension understandable. -Gerald

I think I like this version a touch better myself. I am wondering how you warped the mesh screen to those angles? It creates a very interesting perspective.

What is it that I see trying to peek thru the screen in the lower right corner just to the left of the yellow cord (grounded) power prong. Paul Alters

Hi Sharon, thank you for commenting and for the suggestion - hope this seems better to you now :) - Kelly

A really nicely lit studio shot. I wonder if the image would work better if the grid continued into the upper right corner which seems kind of empty at the moment. Not that it doesn't work just fine this way! ~Sharon

Thank you for your comments Nico. I've added a layer upon which I painted a highlight for the black cord and I've also trimmed down the border a little. Hope you like it better :) - Kelly

Sorry, correction: "(slightly left of centre, top half of the image) "

Goodness gracious. I thought the first entry was really good, but this takes it to a whole new level - again.

What I like? Fantabulous lighting, to mention but one aspect.

What could have been different? This is very hard for me to identify; I am tempted to refer to the border again, but that would be chickening out, so to speak.

The part of the black cord which is closest to the camera (slightly right of centre, top half of the image) looks less 3D than the rest of the cords/cables, as if the lighting did not quite work its magic in that section as perfectly as elsewhere? But please, I am now really scraping the bottom of the barrel in order to find something to comment on. It is of no major importance in the bigger scheme of things.

Very well done! Kind regards Nico
