South Ridge of Cadillac Mountain

Cadillac Mountain, Bar Harbor, Maine view map

Lots of hiking this day in Acadia National Park. Not all of my panos could fit into this challenge, but after you've seen one, you may not want to see more.

Here's a link to the high resolution version (about 10 meg).

The field of view for the photographic pano is 360° and comprised from 114 individual shots taken on July 28, 2010 around 8:00 AM; focal length 10mm, fully manual, fixed WB, fixed focus, on Markins Q-Ball M10-L, two rows (no nadir nor zenith shot), portrait orientation, bracketed -2, 0, +2, processed HDR in PTGui (Equirectangular) with minor processing in PS CS4.

The setup shot to the right was shot with my Garmin 550 which I uploaded first so as PBase would snag the geo-coding first (click on view map link above), then I uploaded the 1000 pixel-wide version (above).

Oh, very cool! I love the carousel shot, quite wonderful. Thanks for the explanation and links! ~Sharon

The zenith shot - straight up, and the nadir shot, straight down, would both be needed in order to do a full 360° (horizontally) x 180° (vertically) and with such a complete picture of everywhere around the camera, you could create a number of things including the little planets like this one:http://www.flickr.com/photos/gadl/484037006/sizes/l/in/photostream/ - this guy's work is amazing! And with special viewing software (e.g, Quicktime and Flash) create a panning and zooming virtual image like this one:http://www.360precision.com/360/index.cfm?precision=vrviewer.home&viewer=flv&id=20 - this stuff is incredible! - Kelly

Wow, this is a 360? It just looks like a wide angle shot but I guess I can tell by what the clouds are doing. What do you mean by "no nadir nor zenith shot"? I love the shadow of you and your tripod on the rock! Very nice, indeed! ~Sharon
