What I really wanted to do was have the image and the burning reflection showing but that didn't work out very well. I need a much larger reflective base than I had and no way in hell was I going to use one of my wifes mirrors even tho I doubt it would have caused a problem. I shot several of the classic look of a wine glass, candle and wine bottle on the reflective surface but they didn't wow me enough to do anything with them.

The setup was my black photo backdrop, Plexiglas sheet for the reflective base that I knew I would be sacrificing and only get one or two runs with it. The only light other than the fire was a lone 60 watt bulb behind a diffuser a good 10 feet away. You can see the reflection of the bulb in the bottle. A cold bottle of like I said cheap wine and of course my favorite safe burning fuel, denatured alcohol.

Since the only external light other than the fire was the 60 watt bulb it needed a long exposure which can bee seen by the smooth flame enveloping the bottle and the multi tipped top.

Canon 70-200, tripod and release cable. Some slight enhancement with PSE. Maybe it's an illusion but it looks like I could have straighten the horizon just a pinch.

I was just having fun with this. I will place another image in pending that I tested the concept with a day or so back that has much more light on it and shows a little more detail.

In case you didn't know denatured alcohol burns fairly slow. You can actually mix it with water and it will still burn. Once you do that it burns even cooler.
