You are most welcome, it is often very difficult to see that 'artifact' problem and it depends very much on the gamma setting of the monitor.

It looks clean now, well done shu, very striking image.

thanks nico, bob, pops and kelly! bob, i must look closer at this image to see the defects you describe. i have such poor eyesight at this age that i oft make errors that i don't pick up when checking an image. i am very glad you mentioned this because we strive for perfection and there is always that "blind spot" that needs to be brought to one's attention. thanks again!!!

the subject of this challenge is such fun!! great choice imo! shu

Nice, shu. You really do capture the viewer's attention with the composition and the stark colours... and then there is that lonely object that sort of looks familiar at first... until... a-ha... the moment when all becomes clear and one figures out exactly what it is. Well done. Regards Nico

Excellent minimalist composition Shu, great idea and most effective.

I guess it is because of my new monitor, but I can see a banding effect in the 'black' area which shows as 'interference fringe effect' if you look closely. I grabbed your image and used the magic wand tool in PS to capture the 'black area' and then used the paint tool, selecting black to paint in the area and it fixed the problem. All smooth black without the banding fringe appearing.

Not sure if you have that facility, and not sure if others can see the problem but it often happens especially when saving and re-opening in JPG format... those nasty gremlins are responsible :-)

Regards Bob

There's something missing from this excellent image. Oh, yes, it must be Vodka or Gin as one prefers.

thanks! plate edge: selecting, levels, feathering, refining the edge -- a little work on the olive: selecting, dodging, burning. sharpening, some edge work. cropped image. (the plate had a slight shadow due to the fact this was photographed on an off white counter-top. the black reduces the image to more a more simple form.) shu

Nice one shu! After seeing your earlier excellent minimalist-themed works I've been eagerly waiting for your images for this challenge.

What forms the hard black-white edge?
