Wow. I thought you might have had a chance to photograph the eagle in a sanctuary. To know that this was wild (or at least free roaming) is an added pleasure. Nice capture. Love the eyes. - CameraShy09

Yes Kelly it is a crop and I used my friends camera and el-cheapo 55-200 ER-s lens for this shot. I only wished I had my gear with me, could have used my 100mm macro to get a really crisp portrait at close range.

The wedge tail was unusually friendly... it adopted us and seemed to enjoy our company. (My friend's country property)

I suspect it may have been raised by humans and let go or escaped?

Beautiful bird, we arranged for a 'wild-life Officer' to collect it and return it to a more appropriate location.

Bob - Is this a crop at 100%? Even still, how did you get so close to this Wedge-tailed Eagle?

What glass did you employ?

I like the selectively saturated grin!
