Oh, that's it....no apology necessary. I now realize that I have several versions of ARC...I just never use it, my work flow being jpeg based....mostly because I have to work quickly and I shoot a lot anyway...so the off chance that I will need to process an image in RAW, simply isn't in my consciousness.

But in truth, shooting hot equatorial latitudes as I tend to do....there really is...almost always....more dynamic range than can be handled by the camera....certainly in jpeg.

RAW could be marginally better.

This is, I suppose, something I should start to think about.

Thanks,

Best Wishes, Traveller

Sorry for the acronym. ARC is Adobe Camera Raw that comes with Photoshop or Elements. I bought Elements just to be able to use its RAW processing with which you can control/compensate for extreme range of lights & darks. -tv

I have no pride....the only dumb question being the one you don't ask...what is ARC? I've seen it mentioned....I'm sure it is a photo processing program...how do I get one? What is it's formal name?

Why not ask.

This doesn't work so well because so much of its interest lies deep in shadow. It would be worthwhile to process in ACR where you could bring up the shadow areas without sacrificing the lights. -tv
