thanks sharon! your comment is full of enthusiasm for the challenge and, hopefully, some new posters will pick up on this and decide to enter their work! this is an ideal place for beginners due to the fact that there are not an awful lot of entries and the chances of placing are good. some of the older members may see fit to encourage any new-comer so that these "new seeds" will continue to grow strong in the membership. we'll see. btw, good time to ask your friends, family, anyone interested in photography to enroll in Pbase! i have a friend who has a great eye for photography and does very well for a beginner! this is just the kind of person who should start to join in online. i'll ask her! shu

Hi, all! I am afraid I am one of those missing people. It's not because I don't want to be here but life is conspiring to keep me from posting both images and comments. It turns out that being president of my local camera club is a lot more demanding than I was lead to believe! Family and work issues don't help either. I shoot for these challenges and then run out of time to process the images and get them posted. I am so grateful to all of you folks that continue to comment and participate so that this challenge will still be here when I am able to come back and join you once again. I beg to differ on the comment about fewer people commenting in Exhibition - it has always been thus, in my experience. Hang in there everyone, this is a wonderful place where I have learned so much! ~Sharon

thank you daniel for taking the time to answer my question. i really think that members seem to be dropping off! this may be due to lack of interest or that people are not making comments, either complementary,or at least, leaving constructive critiques on posted images, especially in the exhibition category. i am unable to go out these days and shoot for the eligible challenge but do have many images stored in my hard drive that would qualify for exhibition. i know many of you do not appreciate images that are heavily manipulated, but i have seen many exceptional shots in "exhibition" that certainly deserve at least some recognition. i respect these shots as much as those taken within the time frame of the challenge and entered into "eligible!" i would appreciate a few more comments about this. i have belonged to the canon challenges for many years and see interest slipping away and wish to express my concern! shu

No, shu, I don't know why either, but have noticed the very same thing since the merger; this is not at all how cslr worked before. (Please do not say "look who's talking": I know I never was an active enough c&c-writer in any of the challenges. Sorry!) -- db.

hey--how come more of you members don't comment on these fantastic shots (mine excluded, of course LOL)? why have a exhibition gallery if few of you will make comments and critiques? does any one know why this is? just curious. shu
