The light that day was just right for shooting in that direction. The late afternoon Sun was low enough to lay some shafts of light on the water, while leaving the background boats in shadow. Then it was just a matter of waiting until the lead boats launched their kites, and then hoping they'd stay back-lit as they approached me. The fog obviously helped a lot. This set of light circumstances occurs often enough on the Bay that I'll hang around, hoping for it, long after some shooters have hit the yacht club bar. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you make lucky, ... or something like that.
