Anthony Hampton

I met Anthony when I began shooting photos at Fort Point a few years ago. His grey helmet with yellow stripes was easy to pick out of the crowd in the lineup. And he always mounted a small wooden Tiki god on top of his car when he was out. Four things I learned about Anthony in the short time I knew him; He absolutely loved his family. He loved bodyboarding. He was always in a great mood. And he never, and I do mean never, had a bad word for anyone. Anthony passed away a few months ago, due to complications during back surgery. He was a great part of the SF surfing scene, and he'll be missed by all who knew him.

i didnt know anthony very well but from what i have heard, he was a fantastic guy. always optomistic and ready for fun and a good time. he is missed every second of every day and always will be. he will never be forgoten no matter how long he is gone. he will always be loved by his family and friends and will always be remembered and celebrated.

I'll never forget those poker games in Tony's kitchen joined by his brother (Frank). Those were rich days.

great job chuck!Anthony was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew him.my condolence's go out to his family and friends.I wish I saw this when you first put it up.I would have said something then.Anthony we'll miss you,but you will be there in spirit with us all,always,and forever.all the people that wrote what a great guy anthony was,thank you.

i know that this is a late entry,but i felt compelled to write it as i was scanning chuck's gallery looking for pictures of days at the fort when it was good, you know we've been a bit sparse lately. i saw pix of anthony and realized how much that i miss his presence. always happy, glad to be alive, stoked to be surfing. anthony enjoyed other people's rides more than they did....stoked! he was a gentleman, un vero signore, i miss his energy, enthusiasm and his tiki....to his family: i'm sorry about your loss, but i envy your exposure to a great man, peace...chilidog

Anthony was an outstanding human being, righteous family man and my friend. When I called his office to inquire why he hasn't been receiving my email, I was somberly requested to please sit down, then the shocking news was delivered... I do miss our frequent email exchanges, sharing waves at Fort Point and Ocean Beach watching him getting pitted in the barrel and catching those waves from outside underneath the Golden Gate Bridge riding all the way around the point, his genuine warm smile, beautiful spirit and banter, seeing him jogging on Ocean Beach, or with his son out and about, Anthony was a good man,.. Anthony would always tell me how that out of all the breaks he surfed around the world during his constant travels, Fort Point was his most favorite and also how much he loved his family. I know he'd really like us all to continue the stoke in all we do. Peace my brother... Haruwn

I am Anthony's mother. I know he is riding the biggest wave he could ever find, joined by his brother Frank, with the biggest fish he could ever catch, in the ocean they both loved so. I miss them both more than words can say. Thank you, Chuck, for the great pictures of Anthony. Fort Point had a special place in his heart.

Love you dad and chuck thank you for taking pictures of my dad and he always had nothing but goood thigns to say about you. We still have all 3 of those pictures on the fridge.

Anthony always had a good time at the Fort. He loved taking a few hours off from his law job on Union Street to catch a few. A real gentleman...God bless him. pr

yes, anthony always had a smile and a good word to say. our sympathies go out to his family. he will be missed in the lineup.

Wow - I know. Harum mentioned it the last time there were waves at The Fort. I was wondering what had happened to Anthony. Always the nicest guy. Tiki on top of the care facing the waves... I remember the meaning. BV
