King's College Chapel and grounds, Cambridge

view map

King's College Chapel is a splendid example of late Gothic (Perpendicular) architecture.
It was started in 1446 by Henry VI (1421-71) and took over a century to build.
It has the largest fan vault in the world and some of the finest medieval stained glass.
It is also the venue for the Christmas Eve service, A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which is broadcast to millions around the world.

I was once fortunate to attend Evensong there in the choir with a friend who was a student. More than 20 years ago but I have never forgotten it. Remarkable building.

This is lovely and I like how you've framed the image with the overhanging branches.

Looks very stately and very old. Love the big green lawn.
