Another version of hamburger, served in an onion gravy.
Mix 300g ground beef with finely chopped onions, a Tbs ketchup, a Tbs Worcestershire sauce, a tsp dry mustard and a handful
of fresh breadcrumbs, season well with freshly ground black pepper and sea salt, and form into 2 oval patties 2 – 3 cm thick.
Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up. When ready to cook, dust the patties with seasoned flour and fry
in hot olive oil until browned on both sides. Set aside. In the same pan, fry a chopped onion until translucent then
stir in a Tbs flour. Cook this for a couple of minutes then add beef stock, stirring all the while as it comes to a boil and
thickens. Add a drop or two of gravy browning to deepen the colour of the gravy, if desired. Return the beef patties to the pan,
cover and simmer for 20 minutes, turning once or twice. Serve garnished with a little chopped parsley,
accompanied with mashed potatoes and a green veg.
