St John the Baptist Head's Church in Trimingham gets its unusual name from the medieval period when there was
a life size alabaster head modelled from the relic thought to be the real head of John the Baptist which was
kept at Amiens Cathedral. The head was kept on a shrine alter and during the Middle Ages the church became
a place of pilgrimage for people all over the country to see the head rather than travel to Amiens.
The church was built from flint around 1300AD.
