The town of Ayr dates back to 1205, when it was established as a royal burgh, serving as a central marketplace
and harbour throughout the Medieval Period. Oliver Cromwell built a citadel here during the mid-17th century,
and the development of railways in the 19th century contributed to Ayr becoming a popular seaside resort, as it remains today.
The building here is the Ayr Pavilion, built in 1911, and now a children’s amusement facility, Pirate Pete's.
