Kyrenia

Ottoman Cemetery – when the Ottomans conquered Cyprus in 1571, this area outside Girne (Kyrenia) Castle was reserved as a cemetery for soldiers,
and was in such use until the end of the 17th century. At the centre is this free-standing tomb with a sheltering gazebo, the Baldoken Turbe.
Also known as the “Graveyard of the Forlorn”. Much of the graveyard is now a car park.

Excellent composition and an interesting history. Pretty sad about the carpark, though... V.
