Docking at Yvoire, the Simplon – one of the Belle Epoque paddle steamers on Lake Geneva, built 1914-1920 by Sulzer Brothers at Winterthur, Switzerland,
with work suspended during WW1. 73.8 metres long, 1400 hp. Entered service in 1920, reboilered in 1968. An exposion around the funnel occurred in 2003,
but after repairs, back in service in 2005 until 2009, when cracks were found in the pistons. Significant overhaul in 2010/2011 funded by private donations,
returned to service in 2011, restored as closely as possible to the 1920 condition. Capacity 980 persons.
Round trip cruise (about 9 hours) from Geneva to Evians-les-Bains and back.
