This early example of a RR 40/50hp Phantom was bought new by Lord Montagu in 1925 and used by him until his death in 1929.
Originally fitted with a barrel-sided tourer body. It was used as a mobile canteen during World War II and ended up towing grass cutters on a Somerset playing field in the 1950s.
It was returned to Beaulieu in 1961, rebuilt with the original style body and reunited with its first registration number. The Phantom replaced the Silver Ghost in 1925.
