Tomb of the Diver. This fresco slab dates from about 480 BC, and was discovered in 1968, about 1 km from Paestum.
The image of the diver on the lid of the tomb symbolizes the passage to the afterlife. Among the many thousands
of Greek tombs of this period, this one is unique, being the only one decorated with frescoes of human subjects.
