Gold Coast Hinterland

Inland, via winding and narrow roads, to the mountains and rainforest of Lamington National Park.
Our first destination in South East Queensland, this was a far cry from the built up and tourist areas of the coast.
We spent a day and a bit around the Oreillys Rainforest Retreat area which is a well known spot for birding and
bushwalking, and camped at the nearby Green Mountains campground.

As I hadn't been birding for 6 months, it was a lovely surprise to be surrounded by opportunist but striking
yellow and black Regent Bowerbirds within minutes of our arrival at Oreillys. Plus a few other species that call
