Frill-necked Lizard

Frill-necked Lizard - frill neck lizard - frilled neck lizard - frilly - Chlamydosaurus kingii
Seen near Jabiru Safari Lodge - Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetlands Reserve in
Far North Queensland Australia

When this dragon gets frightened, it opens its mouth and the frill is folded out. A
defence mechanism against predators, this obviously makes the lizard appear larger.

The Frill neck lizard appeared on Australia's 2 cent coin ( no longer in circulation ).
The lizard ( Lizzie ) was a mascot for the Sydney Paralympic Games in the year 2000.
