There is something about the Australian mallee and bushland that draws me in when it comes to birding.
As a youngster we would pass by large expanses of harsh, monotonous and boring (to a child) mallee
on the way to visiting relatives interstate. As an adult I am more aware of the treasures the red earth
and scrub vegetation holds, although to go birding in it can be a little daunting - it's not hard to get lost!
I did not do much "birding" on this trip. That said, we visited a few spots we have been to in the past
as we were interested to see them in a different season and transformed after rains.
They are: Kamarooka , Kerang Lakes district , Goschen , Ouyen , Hattah Kulkyne
