Sleeping in the sand

.....how many seas must a White Dove sail,
before she sleeps in the sand.

Dylan says "a white dove" and not "The white dove" which makes me wonder if he was singing about a boat or a bird. But then again a lot of Mr Zimmerman's Lyrics leave me wondering and pondering. But I guess thats one of his greatest attractions.

Could it be a biblical reference to Noah? Sending out a dove to find dry land? I dunno that's the genius of the man.
