A pale sun shines over the land, the light soft,

falling soothingly on the bright green ryegrass.
The dark leafless trees cast long shadows
Unadorned, the branches reveal their artful lines,
naked and honest in the pale light.

Crows glide slowly through the still air,
their wings writing circles of longing.
Winter breathes in cool sighs,
