Built in 1795, then rebuilt in 1852 after fire destroyed the upper floor, on the site of Beaufort’s first courthouse and powder magazine. The Arsenal was the headquarters of the militia during wartime, and also was the military arsenal for the Beaufort Volunteer Artillery. It is now the Beaufort Museum and contains artifacts and other memorabilia from Beaufort’s history.
