Orchid

I have no idea how to take care of this orchid. I'm off to google some information.

This is the most beautiful image of an orchid I have ever seen. And now I realize why I have not been successful with growing them. Vote.

Wonderful photo!! I gotta try the 50 f/1.8 once in a while!!
Phaleonopsis are SUPER easy to grow. Likes to be warm and likes light in a south facing window behind a blind or sheer curtain in the winter and outside in a bright shady spot in the summer (watch for aphids, etc... use a pyrethim insecticide if you get some). It will bloom for a long period of time and then when all the blooms have dropped it will usually sprout a new inflorescence on the old flower spike, so don't cut it off. The critical part is knowing when to water. And that depends on what it's planted in. If it's spagnum moss, don't let the moss dry out -- ever!! If planted in an orchid mix, then water when you can put a sharpened pencil in the mix and it comes out with nothing clinging. It will grow roots above the mix; don't cut those off. In the summer it will need more water if outside. Feed weakly with a balanced fertilizer every other watering and then flush the pot with water once a month to get rid of salt buildup. If the plant is blooming, every other feeding can be a blossom booster. Use tap water that has been sitting overnight to let the chlorine escape; or collect rainwater in the summer. HTH

It's actually surprisingly easy.
Take care of it well and it will live for years.

Beautiful shot. I like the sense of depth and the richness of the color.

So delicate & beautiful. I've not grown orchids so have no knowledge but I'm sure you will take care of this baby.

I like the orange background glow which matches with the orange in the Orchid. They're not too difficult to care for...I'm sure you won't kill it!
