Cheryl: I have attempted to photograph ice and NEVER have achieved exactly what you have achieved here which I tried to do. This is so beautiful. The brilliance of light play, the blue hues. Excellent!

JIm,
Yes, this is lit by Maglite. I have layered: aluminum foil (for reflection); a small, cylindrical, clear glass candle holder about 4" tall (to create a space for underlighting); the blue and clear glass plate used in an August pad (for color and texture); a fairly flat clear glass candle holder (because it held the ice heart in place, rather than let if slide all over the glass plate). Oh and a tripod. I was surprised by how fast the ice melted, considering the lighting. I probably should have taken a photo but my set/studio has been dismantled.

I suppose it's not a good thing to have an icy cold heart. Good that it will melt. Nice for a while thought just to take a picture of.

I like the blue setting. More icy looking. Neat abstract.

This is great, Cheryl. The lighting is superb. Did you use a flashlight ... how did you do it?

Very fine continuation on the theme. Great technique. This can't have been easy to light and photograph.
