The Jerusalem gate is at the entrance to the medieval city of Büdingen and is an excellent example of blending artistry with defense functionality. Büdingen became a city in 1321 and shortly thereafter the defensive walls were constructed. There are many examples of red sandstone technology thoughout the city. We enjoyed a quiet walk though the city with our friends, Dougie and Silke... we're planning a return trip to enjoy some of the beer gardens during the spring or summer, so stay tuned!!
