We enjoyed photographing at the Venice Rookery, a world famous rookery right in the city limits of Venice, Florida. Although February is a peak nesting time for the Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and Roseatte Spoonbills, we saw no spoonbills and the numbers of nesting pairs were apparently lower than in some previous years. Still, we managed to make a few decent images, and enjoyed the spectacle as several birds engaged in the "stick presentation" nesting ritual. This was one of the few places where we could have used an even longer lens than our 500mm + 1.4x teleconverter, as the best action was pretty far away.
