Goat Hill's Last Day

Manhattan Beach, California

Goat Hill is a shopping plaza on Pacific Coast Highway in Manhattan Beach, CA. I always thought it was kind of funky and fun. The space on the far right was a local coffee place for the last 11 years.
There was an ice cream shop, art gallery and deli. A Mexican restaurant moved out awhile ago.
August 31 was the last day for tenants to vacate the property. It will be torn down to make way for a Senior Assisted Living Facility. There are at least 3 such places within 2 miles of this location so it makes me sad to see this go.
I had always meant to get up early and take a picture of it before it got busy but never got around to it, so on the 31st it was now or never.
My phone distorted the building making it look lopsided but it isn't.

It is a charming place. A pity it will be torn down. V

Change is inevitable, but it is always sad when unique places are replaced with generic buildings.

A moment in time that will never be the same again as it makes way for a new complex. So sad when they do this, I agree, Char.V

The pandemic probably hurt their business they shut down the small folks and allowed the other to stay open.
Probably more money in Senior centers which you have no shortage of.
You did good with your cell phone.

Kind of sad, but I guess it is necessary. Great image of it with wonderful mood. ~BV~

Such a place with character - too bad it has to be replaced.

Sounds like a cool place - coffee, ice cream, deli, art - all tough losses to absorb.

I’m sad to hear that is being torn down. It looks funky and fun.

It is sad to see old characterful places demolished for new developments

Sorry to see it go. At least it's a facility for seniors, and not another apartment building.

It is appropriately gloomy for the demise. "V"

Glad you got there to memorialize this place, and sad to hear it's going to be demolished, although perhaps for good type of facility. V.

A shame it has to go :( There is such a shortage of senior housing here - I can understand the need.

it does look full of character...good there were some cars too, to show it with a hint of life..
