I had been watching a "new" female Kingfisher in front of my hide for the last 7 days. Today when I went to see her she was in the company of another young Kingfisher. At first, as I watched them they were quiet, seeming to just pose and posture at each other. Eventually their rivalry for territory spilled over and a deadly fight ensued. The vanquished bird was either drowned or left the area leaving the victor to pose and preen.
