Gentle Giants

Giant Sequoias are scattered throughout the park. Soft furry bark and towering presence makes it like walking into and other world. This shot was taken in the Mariposa Grove at the base of the Grizzly Giant (many of the trees are named). These two deer found comfort at the Grizzly's base. The Grizzly Giant is thought to be 2,700 years old -- the oldest living Sequoia.
