Howell Court House

The first court house in Howell was built in 1847 but was condemned in February of 1889.
The New courthouse was constructed the same year. The 3 story structure is Richardsonian Romanesque designed by Albert E. French. Waterbury and Wright constructed the building. The cornerstone (containing histories of every church and organization) was laid on August 10, 1889. The grand opening was held in April of 1890.
The building was restored in 1978 by William Kessler & Associates of Detroit and Chambers &
Chambers, Architects and Elgin Builders of Southfield. The Courthouse
listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as the Michigan
State Register of Historic Sites.
