Original Picture

How I did this. I copied the picture and made a second image and I ran it through a pencil sketch to get the far trees to look like pencil drawings. Then I overlayed it on and rubbed out that part. Then copied merged and pasted as new image, and I outlined just the trees with freehand lasso with a bit of a feather and copied it and pasted as new image (it seems like I did that about a half a dozen times until I got it exactly as I wanted it. Then used an eraser with low opacity to lighten the areas I wanted lighter.
