Everything in this story happened exactly as I told it. The names were changed but the facts are there.

I can still see the Boy Scout Building as if I had been in it yesterday. The place is gone now and I can’t even find out for sure where it was but the first picture, with the cats in the car, was taken in the general location of the site.

The lady I called Mrs. Weedimeyer had moved into the town the year before and I’m sure soon found she was living in Harper Valley PTA. She scandalized the town by wearing short-shorts and skimpy halters to do yard work (something that earned one a seriously bad reputation back then) so of course she always had prowlers and of course she had brought it on herself. Though I had heard about her I had never been there when it happened so that never even entered my mind.

I’ll never forget the look on my aunt’s face when I started telling her (especially since I started with "I better tell you this before the police get here) she thought I was in some kind of trouble she was going to have to answer to my parents for.

I’m sure the local bachelor went back and somehow retrieved their clothes out of the tree and I’ll bet he carried an extra set of clothes in his car after that and told his liaison to do the same.
