Trip to Alaska June 16 - July 7.
Highlight of our trip was a bear viewing trip to Katmai N.P with Emerald Air Service from Homer.
Photos are made with a Canon 300D and Sigma 50-500mm lens.

Hello Helene, You know me as 'BBE' from the Hornby and Saanich Eagle Nests in B.C. Such beautiful photos from Alaka! You saw a wide variety of animals. The Holgate Glacier is enormous. The pictures of the eagles are WOW! Several years ago I was fortunate to see many bald eagles in Juneau. Thank you for sharing your pictures. I hope to 'see' you in 2007 when the Bald Eagle Cameras are operational again in B.C. Best wishes and happy photo taking!

Helene, What fabulous pictures ! And what a variety of wildlife you got to see in one visit. You must have stayed awake with the 23 hours of daylight....I've been to Alaska a few times (my sister lived near Prince of Wales Island for a while). I have many similar shots of the bears, but none like your birds. My favorites are the bear with the dandelions. I am now positive they like to eat flowers. I had a small brown bear in my yard here in Connecticut one Easter and he laid down on my wall and started nibbling my daffodils. It was the funniest thing. Do you know about the Annan Sanctuary (near Petersburg, I think). It's a state park and there are a few cabins where you can stay. Then you walk a boardwalk and path up to a small waterfall and watch the bears fish for salmon. If you stay a few days, you start to recognize the bears, who each have very distinct fishing styles. I'll look forward to visiting your gallery again. Jennifer (an eagle site watcher)
