Tutankhamen's mummiform gold coffin, New Kingdom, Dynasty XVIII, ca. 1347-1337 BC.jpg

One of two mummiform gold coffins of Tutankhamen in the Cairo Museum. The coffins are made of solid gold. semi-presious stones and glass.
These coffins were nested inside two larger wooden coffins which were encased in a quartzite coffin which was then placed within four gilded wooden cases.
The large cases almost entirely filled the young pharoah's burial chamber in the Valley of the Kings.
The mummified body of Tut is still in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of the Nile.
