Malcolm is shown here walking in the central gallery area of the Pompidou, beside Alberto Giocometti's sculpture.
Giocomettii was a Swiss surrealist sculptor, who is probably know best for his highly recognizable, simplified and elongated
figures in bronze, such as this figure with his deeply textured surface.
This central gallery in the Pompidou is a great setting for large sculptural works where visitors can walk all around
the sculpture to see how it is finished and looks from any viewpoint.
People quite often look at a piece of sculpture only from the front. It is interesting to see how the sculptor worked
from other views, which tells us if he meant the figure to be seen all around,
or if (in some instances) the back may be unfinished, and the work meant to display against a wall.
