I captured this young girl on one of the staircases near the Grande Galerie of Italian paintings.
FYI… she is holding one of the two or three "serious cameras" I saw on this Paris trip.
She is obviously puzzled by the rather convoluted Louvre layout, which includes three wings of the Louvre,
(Sully,Richeiieu and Denon), each with three floors and multiple rooms and galleries that are laid out "logically".
Even with map in hand, it can be daunting in reality to find one's way between different areas of the Louvre.
For those unfamiliar with the Louvre museum, it is much more pleasant to decide where one's main interests lie,
and focus on one area at a time, taking out time for lunch in one of several reasonably priced restaurants in the Louvre,
and preferably making two or three separate visits to the museum..
Most tour groups never see some of the real treasures, and concentrate only on seeing the "big three"…
Leonardo's "Mona Lisa", the Greek "Nike of Samothrace", and "Venus de Milo".
As an art historian, I've never quite understood walking right by other masterpieces that are of equally great importance,
and never realizing what the visitor is missing !
