Directly across the piazza from St. Ignazio, is this beautiful Mannerist building which defines the shape of Pza. St. Ignazio,
and is the home of the "Carbinieri Headquarters for the Protection of Cultural Heritage", more commonly known as the "Art Squad".

The department has three units dealing with antiques, archaeology and fakes.
It is concerned with the discovery and recovery of art-works illicitly removed or exported from Italy,
and cooperates with other national police forces like Interpol, the FBI, Customs Services, Scotland Yard, etc.
Their investigations have resulted in the repatriation of numerous works of art,
and their great work in tracking down art theft continues throughout the world.
