Moved f/stop up two numbers and zoomed in a bit. Nice contast with background. Lighting ok. Still needs improved. What would you do to imporve shot.

Your 20D reaches its ability to resolve detail at about f/11, so the way to improve this photo is to keep your f/stop greater than f/11. In addition, the photo needs post processing. The contrast is too "flat" and maybe some side light would improve it.
