We drove into the National reserve and then hiked towards the mountains to try and spot Takhi. Wild horses that went extinct twenty-five years ago. In 1994 the takhi were reintroduced into the wild from zoo populations. Preziwalsky horses have 65 chromosomes one more than domestic horses. They formerly inhabited the Gobi Desert and the steppes of Mongolia.
