When the (second) church of Pornainen had burnt to ashes in 1918, a new massive stone church was completed in 1924.
The church had only one church bell left. The bell was acquired in 1731 by people raising flax.
The linen was weaved by women, and the thin linen was sold in Stockholm, Sweden. With the money thus earned it was possible to buy the church bell.
