Lewis Loskovitz

Ain't mush of a bio. After graduating the prestigious Central High, Memphis, I found myself and Stanley Engelberg at Tulane University. The first day they told us that only one out of three would graduate from there. You know that they were right. Neither of us did. I left after a year and a half to chase tail at Memphis State where my then girlfriend and soon to be wife had transferred from Oklahoma. For some strange reason I decided to be in pre-med and made my way through the various requirements, some of which required Debra's help. She did the typing.... I never got beyond 50 wpm at my very best. She did the glass blowing in chemistry lab late at night as I had burned all 10 fingers-- one at a time. Of course, I did the chasing. Well, somehow I got this letter with the word "acceptance" on an orange stripe on the outside envelope from the University of Tennessee Memphis, saying I made it in. This was one of those occasions you remember like yesterday. I almost fainted. As my father used to say, to make a long story short, I graduated from UT med units in 1971. Oop's, I forgot to tell you that Debra married me in '68.

So, from there, we and Neal, then one year old, went to Lancaster, Pa. for my internship. We moved back to Memphis and back to UT for a year of pediatrics where I learned that maybe I should be doing something else. Kids cry and sometimes bite. Then, my son, Bret can along. I've been in Family Practice for the last 34 years in Germantown. I lost my hearing a few years ago, and now I just oversee a couple of nurse practitioners and 2 other docs, and I'm semi-retired. I guess I got burned out of seeing patients about the same time so I'm not too upset. But I'm open to suggestions if you have something for me to volunteer to do. Neal, he lives down the street and is now the practice manager of Germantown Minor Medical, and he's managed to have 2 children of his own. Einat his wife, born in Israel, now tells him what to do, and Debra still tells me how to do it. Jake just had his 5th birthday yesterday and Adam will be 3 soon. I, well I still chase tail. Lewis

Ed note: He caught Debra when he was younger. No way could he do it now. And as far as his current chasing. . . . .
