Utopia

In a country where everything seems orderly, clean and perfect, finding a man sleeping on the cold, polished granite underpass is a shocking sight. Infact, there were at least another 6 bodies sleeping on the cold hard floor around him. Perhaps life is not as wonderful as the neon ads say it is!

Thanks Phil & Tim for your wonderful observation about the sleeping man breaking the orderliness of the image! It does drive the point that he is very much an outsider in this perfect, happy world.

I find the design of this image so compelling - The joyous life is contained in tight frames upon frames. While the man asleep breaks the order. He might be dreaming of the ordered joyous life and even he is surrounded by the orderly regimentation.

Not only is the contrast of subject matter thought provoking, Celia -- so is the contrast in coloration. The clean, orderly design of the image makes the homeless man all the more jarring.
