Beauty In The Beast

I wanted to end this gallery with a sense of awe, respect, appreciation and hope for one of the last corners of wilderness on our planet - Not a glorious albeit cliche red sunset over an acacia tree, but an image that expresses the peace, harmony and the way of life that is all natural, which is completely opposite from the world that we humans have built - consumerism, capitalism, materialism, politics, oppression, irresponsibility, unaccountability. And I think this image of a herd of buffalo grazing on the sprawling golds of the Masai Mara, with the heavens opening up and shining down on them evokes all these feelings for me. This is a world foreign to most of us but exists perfectly well on its own without human intervention. Not everything needs to be the human way, and we all need to respect the diversity and beauty of the other life forms on our planet. If there is a lesson that can be learnt from nature, it would be balance and respect. With these two key principles, the world would already be a better place, the way it should always have been.

An inspired gallery indeed, evoking much inspiration ~ I was contemplating a trip to Kenya, and now having seen your images, I'm more certain than ever to make the trip to experience the majesty of Nature in person! ~ Thank you for sharing!

What a perfect image you have selected to end this remarkable gallery, Celia. The "Gods Rays" not only illuminate the landscape and the animals who inhabit it -- they illuminate the point you are trying to make with all of these images. It is an image that speaks of the dignity of nature -- a fitting visual context supporting your concluding thoughts below -- the great lessons of nature: balance and respect!
