I came upon this shop that was completely covered in shoes from wall to wall, and just barely noticed the shoe maker in the back room totally consumed in making more shoes.

I did not see him until I read your title. The black and white rendering has camouflaged him, and his small scale in your small picture makes him difficult to make out. But once get past the triple abstraction (color, size, and context) and find him, everything changes. The image becomes quite incongruous and rich in human values. You make us work hard here, Celia, but it worth the trip.
