While I have many collections of various things and several items within each collection that I like for one reason or another, this meteorite has been one favorite for a while now. It is unusual because the two sides show the two different classes of meteorites from this fall (Sikote Alin, Russia, 1947) which usually are found on separate pieces. On the left we see remaglyphs or thrumpints caused by ablation of material during the firey fall. On impact, the piece seems to have been ripped apart making the right image look like schrapnel. This piece must have been just on the edge in terms of temperature where it could be broken but not completely destroy the artifacts of the fall.
This was lighted with a continuous fluorescent ring.
