Argiope trifasciata Family Dinner
by Steve Sprengel

Pioneers Park, Lincoln, Nebraska

The large female feeds on a dragonfly caught in her web,
while the tiny male waits for his only purpose in life.
The egg sac will survive the winter and the cycle will begin again.

I laid in the grass and put my removable column tripod
through its paces to get this shot just after sunset.

Developed in Lightroom and Shadow-Highlight and Smart-Sharpen in Photoshop.

More information about the Banded Arigope can be found on BugGuide.net.

The related Arigope aurantia is what I usually see.
